We are looking for energetic individuals who are ready to join us in taking our restaurant to the next level. The largest responsibility as a Kitchen Team Member is serving fresh and crave-able food that keeps guests coming back for more! This involves following food safety standards set forth by the Virginia Department of Health and Chick-fil-A.


Competitive pay:


Full-time starts at $14.00 per hour but may earn up to $15.00 per hour. Part-time starts at $12.00 per hour but may earn up to $13.50 per hour!

Kitchen Team Member Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of restaurant parking lot, outside trash receptacles, dishwashing area, cooler and freezer, thaw cabinets, bread table, and grill and other equipment used for cooking and preparing food.
  • Follow first-in, first-out rotation and other food safety measures such as date labeling, temperature checks, and more.
  • Food prep that involves handling raw chicken and cooked product for both breakfast and lunch.
  • Work machinery that involves handling hot grease or working around hot surfaces.
  • Follow specific cook procedures for items such as the biscuits, grilled and fried filets, mac and cheese, and more.
  • Filet and coat raw chicken and hand off to machinists to load and cook on the grill or pressure fryers.
  • Handle the machines that the raw product is cooked in and transfer them to the line for assembly once cook time is done.
  • Drop multiple basket of fries and load them into the fry shoot for front counter and drive thru team members.
  • Assemble sandwiches and other special orders and place them in the correct places for front counter and drive thru team members.
  • Box nuggets and strips and place them in the correct places for front counter and drive thru team members.
  • Prepare pre-made and customized salads and place them in the correct places for front counter and drive thru team members.
  • Communicate with front counter and drive thru team members when there is wait time on essential and non-essential product.

Kitchen Team Member Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation .
  • Must have the availability to work Holidays and weekends (Saturday).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 or more pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and follow instructions as given.
  • Must work well in a team and help maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Must be comfortable with working inside + outside and in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must understand basic food safety and must adhere to all corporate, unit, and state or federal policies.
  • Must be able to obtain a food handlers card for the city of Portsmouth.
  • Candidates will also be expected to be able to work on their feet for several hours at a time and lift potentially heavy objects when necessary. Prior experience is preferred but not necessary.
