Assistant Event Manager Intern: Focus on Groups & Weddings

Rate of pay$12 per hour

Fair Hills hosts over 50 events each season; Weddings, Reunions, Meetings, Parties, Catering, Retreats, etc.  As a full service event venue, we provide the space, set-up, audio/visual equipment, food & beverage, lodging, service and planning service.  This Assistant Events Manager Internship will focus on the planning and execution of all events hosted at Fair Hills Resort, Wildflower Golf Course, and Five Lakes Resort and is geared toward a college student who is pursuing a degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management, Communications, or Public Relations or a recent graduate pursuing a start in the industry. The Assistant Events Manager Intern will work directly with our Events Director, with a home base at the Front Desk. Both office work and event execution duties are required.  The goal of the internship is to enable you to be able to run an event from start (booking) to finish (billing & follow-up) and everything in between, on your own. The Assistant Events Manager Intern will be the right hand of our Event Director.

The Assistant Events Manager Intern will learn to use our property management system, Resort Data Processing (RDP), as well as our point-of-sale system, Lightspeed, and be proficient in Google Suite products such as docs, sheets, slides, forms, drive and photos. This Assistant Events Manager Internship works very closely with the front desk and front office, often sharing duties and assisting there as needed. This is an operational managerial internship; interns work their department’s positions, as well as take on extra management responsibilities.  This means, we work, not just delegate. This Assistant Events Manager Internship will be focused on group events and weddings throughout our season. Working with 17 weddings and ~40 group events from May-September, with front desk and dining room shifts in between to expand your knowledge of all resort operations and event industry fields. The Assistant Events Manager Intern may also be asked to cruise with guests on our Big Pelican Pontoon as a bartender and/or server. This Assistant Events Manager Internship will provide emphasis on the following skills: guest services and guest relations, initiative, efficient learning, organizing detailed events, problem-solving, professional communication and event management, and executing multi-departmental occasions.
