Food Production Equipment Operator

Job Summary:

The Food Production Equipment Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring,

and maintaining machinery used in the production and packaging of food products. This role

ensures that equipment runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality and sanitation

standards to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and Monitor Equipment:

  • Start, stop, and adjust production equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Monitor production lines for quality, efficiency, and safety.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect products for defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Record production data and report any inconsistencies or malfunctions to supervisors.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions; assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.

Sanitation and Safety:

  • Follow all food safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate production and equipment logs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality assurance staff.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency, product quality, and safety.

Qualifications:


Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Experience: 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing or industrial equipment operation preferred.

Skills:

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to complete production documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Tolerance for working in hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Manual dexterity for operating and cleaning machinery.
