Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and test single phase electric motors in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
- Manage multiple repair jobs efficiently—demonstrating good judgment on when to switch tasks (e.g., while waiting for parts, cleaning, or drying processes).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and job records, including creating detailed invoices and documentation of all work performed.
- Ensure all repairs meet warranty and quality standards through thorough, consistent workmanship and testing.
- Work safely and responsibly in a shop environment using industrial tools and electrical equipment.
- Collaborate closely with the sales and service teams to understand job scope, customer expectations, and turnaround priorities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement of processes and contribute to a positive, team-oriented shop culture.
- Occasional travel to customer sites and ability to support emergency call-outs as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience repairing or rebuilding single phase electric motors.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with industrial motor failure modes (bearings, windings, alignment, VFDs etc).
- Comfortable interpreting schematics and reading engineering documentation.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively across multiple jobs.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with peers and other departments.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety in an industrial environment.
- Willingness to be called in for emergency or rush service/repairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or degree in electrical/electromechanical field preferred.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with motor winding and/or 3-phase motor repair.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and shop management systems.
