Jake's Del Mar Barback

Rate of pay$16.85 per hour

We are looking for skilled BARBACKS to join the Jake's Del Mar team! The starting rate is $16.85/hr plus tips (The combined rate is ~$25-$30/hour). We are especially looking for candidates with full time and weekend availability. Must be available to work holidays. A minimum of three days of availability is required. Other scheduling availability is subject to review upon application. Applicants with open availability preferred.

PREFERRED / REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • US Work Authorization Required. We use E-Verify to confirm Employment Eligibility Verification.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of restaurant experience in barback or busser departments. Stocking or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Experience with Point of Sale System.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Must take and pass all training tests 90% or higher.
  • California Food Handler Certificate - Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid California Food Handler Certificate.
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certificate - Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid RBS Certification. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist Bartender in providing the highest level of quality and service to our guests by being responsible for all preparation, interaction and steps of service needed to exceed guest expectations in the restaurant and bar.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in preparing bar for service by setting up bar and bar area, including preparing items such as linens, silverware, and glassware, stocking liquors, preparing garnishes, preparing drink mixers, stocking ice bins.
  • Greet all guests and co-workers in a warm, personal, friendly manner.
  • Assist guests with questions, recommendations, and orders.
  • Offer food menus to guests seated at the bar and answer questions about menu items, offering descriptions and making recommendations. Inform guests of daily specials including pricing if not listed on the menu. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Follow T S protocol and inform manager on duty for all noted guest allergies.
  • Communicate any food or drink orders taken to Bartender to be entered into computers.
  • Assist Bartenders upon request with checking guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Assist Bartenders in pouring and serving beer to guests seated at the bar (not at all locations – only when instructed).
  • Assist Bartenders in preparation of drinks for guests seated at restaurant tables in an efficient manner (not at all locations – only when instructed).
  • Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their food and drink items, and take action to correct any problems.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from bar, and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
  • Polish and restock all glassware as needed.
  • Restock all bar items including wine, beer, condiments, etc.
  • Clean entire bar area including bar top, glass washer, etc.
  • Stock ice
  • Take garbage and recycling to appropriate destination
  • Assist Bartenders and Managers in monitoring guests’ physical condition when entering the restaurant and bar; monitor alcohol consumption while on the premises to ensure all T S and county serving policies are followed. Take appropriate steps according to T S policy to reduce the occurrence of alcohol related issues.
  • Must be dependable, report to work as scheduled and on time, and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns; personal, employee or guest injury.
  • Follow food safety program guidelines of handwashing, bare hands, hygiene and health.
