Position Summary
The Talent Director is responsible for creating a culture of excellence through onboarding, training, coaching, and leadership development. This leader ensures every Team Member, Trainer, Team Leader, and Director has the tools, knowledge, and support needed to thrive.
The Talent Director serves as the champion of people growth, leadership development, and operational consistency while helping Chick-fil-A Portland achieve its vision, mission, and business goals.
Responsibilities
VISION
- Champion Chick-fil-A Portland's vision, mission, and values.
- Ensure all training systems reinforce our culture and expectations.
- Lead by example and serve as an ambassador of the Chick-fil-A brand.
- Help team members understand how their role contributes to the restaurant's purpose and goals.
PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
Team Member Experience
- Own the onboarding process for all new hires.
- Ensure every new Team Member completes a structured training plan.
- Conduct new hire check-ins at 7, 30, and 90 days.
- Partner with Directors to improve retention and engagement.
Trainer Development
- Recruit, certify, and coach Trainers.
- Lead monthly Trainer development meetings.
- Conduct Trainer observations and provide coaching.
- Ensure training standards remain consistent across all dayparts.
Leadership Development
- Identify future leaders and create development plans.
- Maintain leadership pipeline and succession planning.
- Coordinate leadership classes, workshops, and growth opportunities.
- Partner with Directors and the Operator to develop Team Leaders and Directors.
TRAINING SYSTEMS
- Maintain all training pathways and certification materials.
- Ensure training plans are updated and aligned with operational standards.
- Monitor completion of certifications and development milestones.
- Conduct regular training audits.
- Create systems that improve training efficiency and accountability.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
- Partner with Director of Operations to identify performance gaps.
- Develop training solutions that improve:

- Support implementation of new procedures and initiatives.
- Ensure all food safety and quality expectations are incorporated into training programs.

- Help create a welcoming environment where team members feel known, valued, and developed.
- Support retention initiatives and team member engagement efforts.
