Electric Dough Pizza Co. Shift Captain
Position Overview
The Shift Captain is the on-shift leader responsible for operational execution, team leadership, guest experience, and performance standards during assigned shifts.
This is a working leadership role. Shift Captains lead from the floor — deploying the team, coaching in real time, protecting food quality, managing cash controls, and ensuring the guest experience consistently meets EDPC standards. When the Manager is not present, the Shift Captain is the acting leader of the shift.
Shift Leadership & Deployment
• Lead pre-shift huddles and communicate daily goals and priorities.
• Assign station deployment based on business volume and team strengths.
• Rotate Crew Members as needed to maintain performance.
• Monitor labor awareness throughout the shift.
• Step into stations as needed to support peak service periods.
Guest Experience Oversight
• Monitor guest flow and dining room experience.
• Address guest concerns immediately and professionally.
• Coach team members on hospitality standards.
• Ensure consistent greeting, engagement, and service execution.
• Protect EDPC’s brand and reputation through strong service leadership.
Food Execution & Quality Control
• Ensure all menu items meet build specifications and presentation standards.
• Monitor ticket times and kitchen flow.
• Protect portion control and minimize waste.
• Reinforce food safety and sanitation standards.
• Correct execution issues in real time.
Inventory & Ordering Support
• Conduct daily inventory checks as assigned.
• Monitor prep levels and communicate product shortages.
• Assist with placing product orders according to pars and budget.
• Track usage patterns and identify potential variances.
• Support weekly inventory processes.
Cash & Financial Controls
• Oversee register accuracy and drawer counts.
• Manage safe counts and cash drops.
• Ensure accurate payment processing and reconciliation.
• Protect tip pool integrity.
• Report discrepancies to management immediately.
Coaching & Team Development
• Provide real-time coaching and feedback.
• Support Trainer performance and development.
• Model professionalism, urgency, and accountability.
• Maintain a positive, performance-driven shift culture.
Qualifications
• Previous restaurant leadership experience of at least one year preferred.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to lead confidently in a high-volume environment.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Basic knowledge of inventory and cost control practices.
• Familiarity with POS systems (preferably Toast) and cash handling procedures
• Reliable and available for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• Work in a warm, fast-paced environment.
• Move with urgency while maintaining situational awareness.

This is an active supervisory position. Shift Captains own the shift and help set a positive tone with the entire team for a smooth-running service.
