An ideal prep cook will prepare raw ingredients for use in recipes. They will wash, chop, and handle various ingredients and prepare portions of ingredients for workstations. A prep cook will prepare sauces and garnishes and may assist the cook with basic recipes. Additionally, a prep cook will follow all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety, perform routine kitchen tasks, maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash, and perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must know and follow all food safety procedures
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to prioritize tasks
- Must be proficient in using kitchen tools correctly
- Must be able to follow written directions
