Job Summary:
The Quality Improvement Intern supports MyCHN’s Quality Department by assisting with data entry, analysis, and report preparation for quality improvement initiatives. This role works closely with the Quality Director to update and maintain clinical quality reports, analyze preventive care compliance, and support data-driven improvement efforts across providers and sites. The intern gains hands-on experience with healthcare quality metrics, reporting tools, and performance improvement methodologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Texas Children’s Pediatrics reports, manual Excel monthly pivots
- Pediatric Appointment- New patient access
- Asthma control
- Patient Experience
- Well Child Reports (WC15, WC30)
- Depression Screening – TCP
- HEDIS Adolescent Immunizations (IMA)
- Supports Quality Director in analysis of prevention visit compliance: Adult well visit, well child, prenatal, and post-partum compliance rates by provider and site
- Supports Quality Director in development of supporting data for quality improvement drill downs and PDSA related work:
- Example: Colorectal cancer screening compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry and basic analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and mathematical comprehension skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Familiarity with healthcare quality measurement and quality improvement methodologies, such as:
- Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA)
- Lean methodologies
- Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model for Improvement
Required Education and Experience:
- GED or High School Diploma
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, public health, healthcare administration, or a related analytical field
