Schlesinger’s Steakhouse is looking for an experienced Pantry Cook who takes pride in preparation, presentation, organization, and getting the job done right.

As Newport News’ premier chophouse, we serve high-quality steaks, fresh seafood, and a busy dining room that demands consistency. We’re looking for someone who can step into the pantry station, own it, and keep service moving.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepare salads, cold appetizers, desserts, sauces, dressings, and other pantry items to recipe and presentation standards
• Handle daily prep and keep the station fully stocked and service-ready
• Maintain excellent consistency in portioning, quality, freshness, and presentation
• Work efficiently and accurately during busy dinner service
• Keep your station clean, organized, and properly stocked throughout the shift
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store ingredients
• Communicate with the culinary team and stay ahead of service needs
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and kitchen standards
• Jump in and support the team when needed

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO

• Has previous pantry, garde manger, prep, or line cook experience
• Can confidently manage a pantry station during a busy service
• Understands the importance of prep, organization, timing, and consistency
• Takes pride in food quality and presentation
• Works quickly without sacrificing accuracy
• Can follow recipes while maintaining established standards
• Shows up reliably and is ready to work
• Communicates well and works professionally with the entire kitchen team
• Is comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
