Schlesinger’s Steakhouse, Newport News’ premier chophouse, is looking for a skilled, motivated Sous Chef who knows how to keep a busy kitchen running smoothly, maintain high culinary standards, and bring out the best in a team.

We need a hands-on kitchen leader who takes pride in quality, understands the demands of a high-volume restaurant, and knows how to balance great food, efficiency, and teamwork. If you're dependable, organized, and ready to take an active role in daily kitchen operations, we want to hear from you!

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Assist the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations and food preparation.
• Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and timely execution of every dish.
• Lead by example, keeping the kitchen organized, clean, and running efficiently.
• Train, coach, and support kitchen staff while maintaining high standards.
• Help manage staffing, cover shifts when needed, and keep service on track.
• Maintain food safety standards and ensure the team is prepared for busy service periods.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous Sous Chef or strong kitchen leadership experience in a busy restaurant.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A hands-on leader who sets the pace and holds the team accountable.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food quality and consistency.
• Dependability, professionalism, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
• Availability to work on-site 10-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment.
