Catering Assistant Job Description
Part-time: 15-20 hours a week (9-1 typically; seasonal and other high volume times may require evening)
Wage: $16/hour
Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Catering Assistant to join our team. The Catering Assistant will work closely with the Talent and Catering Director and staff to provide excellent service and hospitality to our customers. This person will play a vital role in ensuring high customer value through catering events and functions by helping with setup, service, food preparation and restaurant support while maintaining high standards of customer service and food safety. The successful candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent customer service skills.
Logistics & Operations:
- Help load and unload catering supplies, equipment, and food items.
- Deliver catering orders using a company vehicle or personal transportation, as needed.
- Assist with managing inventory, tracking stock levels, and notifying management of low supplies or ordering needs.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and guidelines.
- Determine Ready at Times for delivery orders
- Assigning and tracking TMS bags to orders
- Prepare orders and print off catering receipts
- Assist in assigning catering drivers to orders
Supply and Material Management:
- Gather and prepare necessary paper goods and disposable items (e.g., napkins, plates, cutlery, cups) for catering events, ensuring appropriate quantities and presentation.
- Assign TMS bags to orders and ensure they are ready for orders.
- Package or assemble catering orders, ensuring that all food and non-food items are included as needed.
- Ensure there is no shortage of supplies by managing orders and inventory
Restaurant Support:
- Assist in various roles in HOH and FOH as needed - sampling, hosting, serving, food prep. (Training provided)
Teamwork & Communication:
- Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with Heart of House, Front of House, servers, drivers and other catering staff.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Follow instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Health & Safety:
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Participate in relevant training programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Over 18 years of age
- Prior experience in a catering or food service environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food health and safety regulations and procedures or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and courteous demeanor.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from senior staff.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
- Flexibility and adaptability to work a varying schedule.
