Job Summary: The Technical Director is primarily responsible for supervision and implementation of all production elements (lighting, sound, set design and construction, etc.) of all Historic Holmes Theatre productions. The Technical Director ensures safe-working practices, provides minimal production management for the use of the theatre spaces by outside groups and facilitates repair and maintenance of the theatre resources and equipment. Key to this is a strong work ethic centered on excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships and communications with all artistic parties (local and touring companies, musicians, etc.), as well as administrative staff, board members, and volunteers.
Reports to: Theatre Executive Director
Position: Full time and "at-will" position.
Hours: Full time status; either 1.0 FTE (40 hrs/week) or 0.8 FTE (32 hrs/week). Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends, based on needs with show schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Oversees and implements technical production for all shows, concerts, productions, events at the Historic Holmes Theatre and the Holmes Ballroom.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Determines the necessary technical supports, such as lighting, sound, staging, and special needs, for events and performances in advance of event dates.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Coordinates with a production company or touring company managers as needed.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Advises Executive Director on the technical specifications, costs and usage of technical equipment required for individual shows/events.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Designs, supervises and assists with set and stage construction and management.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Reads and interpret technical riders, stage plots, drawings, and supplementing design work as needed.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Designs, sets up, maintains and operates sound, lighting, stage and other technical equipment and systems.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Ensures smooth operation of the technical aspects of all productions.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Oversees board operation during performances.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Leads the construction of all scenic design elements within the designated time period as determined by the overall production schedule working with volunteers as needed.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Purchases, leases and/or borrows equipment as needed, within specified budgetary limits and makes recommendations for capital purchases of technical equipment.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints, performs preventive
maintenance on equipment.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Maintains current knowledge of all equipment and supervises training on all equipment.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Helps recruit, manage and retain stagehand volunteers.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Develops, implements and monitors policies to ensure a safe work environment in the backstage and stage areas.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Attends required staff meetings.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Serves as Building Supervisor after normal hours of operation, or during assigned productions and rental events.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽In conjunction with the theatre staff, develops the yearlong production calendar detailing all touring productions, local productions, rehearsals, materials acquisition, set build, tech,
strike and all other related production task.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Works with the Event Director for technical support needs for special events in the ballroom or theatre (i.e. conferences, meetings, weddings, small events).
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Develops and maintains relationships with other production companies, theaters, volunteers as needed.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Provides an annual technical inventory of all equipment with recommendations for replacement, or refurbishment.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Stays abreast of new technology and software relative to lighting and audio engineering.

Qualifications:

Salary Range: Will be discussed during interviews and is dependent upon qualifications.
