Role Overview
The Assistant Director of Operations provides flexible, cross-functional leadership across both Front of House and Back of House operations. With a deep and growing knowledge of overall restaurant operations, this role supports the Director(s) and the General Manager in operational execution, project-based assignments, team development, coaching, and disciplinary conversations and business results through executing all aspects of Chick-fil-A’s Winning Hearts Every Day customer success strategy. Reporting directly to the Director(s), the Assistant Director helps execute annual goals in alignment with our Corporate Purpose, Vision, and Core Values, driving a remarkable customer experience. This role is for high-performing and ambitious leaders who have a demonstrated history of leading themselves and leading teams. A growth mindset is a must-have for this role. The Assistant Director role is geared for leaders who are clearly preparing for broader operational and leadership responsibility, with a specific plan for their growth journey into a Chick-fil-A Operations Director, General Manager, Operator, or position with Chick-fil-A’s Support Center.
Key Responsibilities
Vision and Purpose Alignment

- Ensure that all public-facing engagements are consistent with the image, brand, culture, Vision, Values, and Corporate Purpose of Chick-fil-A
- Represent the Operator and the Enterprise in all internal and external communications and decision-making, oftentimes, without direct guidance and taking full ownership for decisions and outcomes

Customer Experience & Sales and Brand Growth
- Provide cross-functional leadership in all aspects of the Restaurant’s operations, directly collaborating with the Team Leaders, Director(s), General Manager, and Operator to execute goals and objectives
- In partnership with the Director(s) and General Manager, efficiently executes strategies and outcomes related to Overall Satisfaction (OSAT), Customer Experience Monitor Scores (CEM), Smart Shop, QIV, Food Safety Scores, and any operational audits
- Execute initiatives and goals set in quarterly strategic planning and champion long-term business growth initiatives
- Operationally lead and model the Restaurant’s commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience, focusing on friendly service, quality food, and a clean and welcoming environment
- Assist with the implementation of efficient systems and processes to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and improve overall operational efficiency and restaurant profitability
- Consistently coach all team members to execute excellence in order accuracy, speed of service, hospitality behaviors, food safety, and food quality
- Ensure full compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards through consistent execution and accountability
- Complete and/or delegate required food safety walkthroughs, audits, and checklists with accuracy and timeliness
- Proactively identify and correct food safety risks through real-time coaching and follow-through
- Reinforce proper food handling, cleanliness, and safety procedures through daily observation and coaching
- Partner with leadership to maintain readiness for inspections and ensure all standards consistently meet or exceed expectations
- Develop team members who follow proper procedures in food preparation, packaging, presentation, and operational output
Financial Stewardship
- Collaborate with the Director(s) and General Manager to strategize and operationally achieve sales goals and maximize profitability by reducing restaurant expenses and identifying efficiency improvement opportunities
- Assist in maintaining the proper maintenance of all restaurant equipment
- Consistently coach all team members to execute lean systems in all operational areas
Leadership
- Model and foster a culture of accountability, excellence, growth, and continuous improvement
- Consistently uphold the formal coaching and disciplinary process as needed
- Identify candidates to develop and maintain a healthy leadership pipeline that precedes the growth of the business
- Model and foster a culture of coaching and mentoring to support professional growth and development
Talent
- Ensure that the team member environment is safe, engaging, and encouraging to align with our Vision, Purpose, and Values
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to the Restaurant’s operations team, recognizing their achievements and addressing areas for improvement
- Lead, inspire, and require a culture of coaching, mentoring, and feedback to support professional growth and development
- Assign, track, and ensure completion of all new hire training plans, validations, performance reviews and follow-up evaluations as needed
- Partner with HR and Director(s) to ensure training systems are executed with consistency and excellence across all shifts
- Lead ongoing recalibration efforts to ensure all team members and leaders are executing at brand standard
- Identify training gaps through observation and performance trends, and implement targeted coaching and retraining plans
- Continuously pursue his or her own professional and personal development through Chick-fil-A and other external resources
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated history as an enthusiastic servant leader with a record of leadership development and business results

Additional Qualifications
- Strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or other similar discipline
- 2+ years of experience in a restaurant leadership or operations role, directly overseeing both financial results and business growth
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours
- A positive, growth mindset
- Able to work full-time (42+ hours a week) with open availability to lead various shifts per week (nights and weekends are required), including nights and weekends
- Be authorized to work in the United States
