Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing daily and monthly general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts

receivable, banking, general ledger and journal entries, sales tax, and reporting.  The Accounting Manager manages the accounting system, reconciles accounts, maintains internal controls, and supports audits.  They are also responsible for providing timely and accurate information to various stakeholders.  This position is 100% in-office in Wichita, Kansas, and reports to the Director of Accounting.   



  • Manages accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank transactions, inventory, revenue, and cost accounts, and records transactions to support these.
  • Oversees and assists with period-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting, including analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and discerning and reporting on key performance indicators in accordance with established closing schedules.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements and other reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and policies.
  • Ensures internal accounting processes are in line with the company’s goals and strategies and seeks continuous improvement and efficiencies by reviewing processes and procedures and keeping up with industry standards and best practices.
  • Works directly with other accounting staff to support accounting operations and projects, and to foster an environment where team members feel developed and supported.
  • Engages with external auditors to ensure timely deliverables and reporting.
  • Prepares various technical accounting analyses, including writing policies and procedures and developing and maintaining appropriate internal controls and communicating accounting positions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of related accounting experience.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, accounting software and databases, and comfort mastering new software systems.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data to produce informational reporting.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, and standards, including hands-on experience researching US GAAP and developing accounting policies.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of detail and accuracy while multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience working with cross functional groups at various levels within a corporate environment.

  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Restaurant industry or franchise experience
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Experience driving change and process improvements
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills and an innovative mindset
  • CPA or MBA

Physical setting:

  • Office
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and viewing computer


  • 8 hour days; additional hours may be required
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday; weekends as needed
