The Prep Cook is a key member of the Back of House team, responsible for preparing and organizing ingredients to support efficient daily kitchen operations. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently while following recipes and preparation standards. The Prep Cook supports the BOH team by ensuring all necessary prep is completed accurately and on time, maintaining proper food handling and sanitation standards, and helping to ensure an efficient, organized, and clean kitchen throughout all shifts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily prep lists accurately, efficiently, and within designated timeframes.
  • Prepare ingredients, sauces, dressings, proteins, vegetables, and other items according to established recipes and preparation procedures.
  • Properly portion, label, date, store, and rotate all prepared food and ingredients.
  • Ensure prep areas, equipment, and storage areas remain clean and organized throughout the shift.
  • Communicate clearly with chefs about prep needs, product shortages, quality concerns, or challenges.
  • Ensure all prep is completed and stations are properly stocked for service.
  • Maintain proper food handling, storage, temperature, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Provide support to line cooks, dishwashers, and other BOH team members as necessary.
  • Assist with event and large-volume preparation as needed.

Schedule Expectations:

This is an hourly position. Schedule flexibility is required, including availability for early morning, evening, and weekend shifts. The Prep Cook is expected to work scheduled shifts and complete assigned prep to support smooth kitchen operations and service.

Qualifications & Expectations:

  • Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and direction from culinary leadership.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in food preparation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen terminology and food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during a shift.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a restaurant/event environment. This role requires primarily standing and walking during the entire shift, as well as frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying. Work environment is fast-paced and team member must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout a shift.
