Welcome to jaja (jajacleveland.com) - Operated by Harbor Bay Hospitality, jaja is located in INTRO – Cleveland’s exciting mixed-use project, which features nearly 300 new apartments, an acre of green space, and a lavish top-floor event venue directly across the street from the historic West Side Market. Jaja is unlike any steakhouse you’ve ever seen - sophisticated, yet free-spirited, the design features rich interiors and lush greenery all beneath our signature retractable glass room. The food features a globally-inspired take on the classic steakhouse with shared plates, Argentine-style wood-fired meats and seafood and memorable desserts, all alongside a unique beverage program featuring wines found no where else in Cleveland and contemporary takes on classic cocktails.
Jaja features a cozy dining room and an ample 2nd story patio with a perfect view of the West Side Market Clocktower. Dinner service takes place from Tuesday-Sunday, with a Sunday brunch service. Since opening in October 2023, jaja has become the premier reservation in Cleveland.
We are seeking an experienced floor manager with a positive attitude who is familiar with high-volume fine dining. This position will work closely with the GM, Executive Chef and bar staff, as this manager will oversee the beverage program for the restaurant as part of their essential duties. Harbor Bay Hospitality is a goal-oriented employer and this position comes with a bonus structure centered around meeting achievable KPIs.
Essential Functions
Staffing & Personnel
- Assist in hiring, training, and supervising restaurant employees
- Create staff schedule to ensure appropriate staffing
- Ensure all employees are working within outlined operating standards
Operational Support
- Track stock levels of operational supplies, and equipment, forecast needs, and oversee dry goods ordering as necessary
- Train lead staff to close the drawers and bar at the end of shift
- Edit and update checklists on a regular basis; hold bar staff accountable to checklists
- Work closely with Executive Chef, additional FOH managers, and Director of Restaurant Operations to uphold the standards of service as directed by HBH leadership
- Operate as an on-shift floor closing manager min. 4 days per week as an example of the jaja management team's standards of service and quality control
- Present for weekly jaja manager and HBH leadership meetings
- Work with the Marketing team, Director of Restaurant Operations and FOH managers to execute large and private parties
Financial
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to assigned cost controls - this position will be responsible for meeting the L/B/W CoGs budgets as well as assisting with meeting the labor budget through appropriate staffing and cutting.
- Report on financial performance, inventory, and personnel to GM and Director of Restaurants as needed
- Keen attention to spending and opportunities for cost cutting within the restaurant
- Help strategize and execute marketing opportunities for increased sales at jaja through events
- Implement strategies for enhanced sales throughout the shift
Day to Day
- Address customer needs, comments, and complaints
- Adhere to and enforce employee compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Consistently train and re-train existing staff including regular menu and beverage tests, interactive learning from reps and experts, and on-the-floor corrections each and every shift.
Beverage
- Work with Bar Lead to maintain beverage program as laid out by the Beverage Director including but not limited to: Beer, Wine, Spirits, Cocktails, Coffee, NA and menu evolution.
- Manage bar staff and all aspects of beverage service - stock, cleanliness, prep, pars, cost analysis and ordering.
- Responsible for weekly ordering for liquor, wine, beer, bar supplies etc.
- Intimate knowledge of the wine list, cocktail menu, food menu and philosophy at jaja; stay in contact with all appropriate reps for updates on stock, new products and upcoming events
- Organize vendor tastings with wine and liquor reps for staff training
- Manage server and bar leads to coordinate a schedule of daily education on wine and cocktails during pre-shift
Education & Experience
- Management experience required - beverage management experience a plus
- Experience in fine dining or night life a plus
- Moderate to advanced level of wine knowledge and understanding highly weighted
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays

Work Environment
Work is performed in a restaurant/event environment. This role requires frequent standing and walking during entire shift. Work environment is fast-paced and team member must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout a shift. Exposure to cold and heat may occur on regular basis throughout a shift (entering refrigeration equipment, multiple industrial/food service and exposure to cooking appliances).
