Cowgirl Creamery is looking for a dynamic, creative, cheese-loving Marketing Director.  This is a unique opportunity to work with a well-established brand making supremely delicious cheeses. Cowgirl Creamery, and its distribution arm Tomales Bay Foods, are at an exciting stage in our history and entering a new phase of growth. As the Marketing Director, you will be a key player in this new chapter as you help us share our story, our products, and celebrate our community with our customers. This role is an integral part of the Cowgirl Creamery/TBF Management team and works collaboratively with other Directors. This position is responsible for all aspects of the Marketing Department and works closely with the Managing Director to achieve the brand and sales goals of the company.

This is a hybrid role primarily based at our office in Petaluma, CA.

What You'll Do:

Strategy, Management, & Analysis
• Owns the Marketing budget and sets the annual strategy and goals. 

• Develops strong understanding of consumer needs and desires through consumer insights as well as industry and marketing trends. 

• Leverages key consumer insights and equities inherent in existing products/brands for ongoing marketing plan modifications, package changes and line extensions.

• Works closely with Sales Director to develop and execute annual sales and marketing plans, including tradeshows and events.

• Oversees a Marketing Team and collaborates with other cross-functional teams.

Marketing Communications
• Develops marketing plans and tactics consistent with the brand voice & story.

• Drives all messaging/communications across all customer groups and communication channels. 

• Directs external support (PR Firms, Content Partners).

• Leads all content creation with help of Marketing Manager ensuring a consistent look and feel across all mediums and touchpoints including oversight of external design team(s).

Digital Marketing
• Directs Marketing Manager and external partners for the content maintenance of Cowgirl’s website & EComm platform.

• Sets and determines budget and strategy for all paid campaigns across search engines, 3rd party EComm, and social channels 

• Oversees insights and analytics from Marketing Manager/external partner. 

• Manages cross-functional relationships between Marketing Manager and EComm team for support and promotion of D2C channel via web content and newsletter.

Social & Content
• Directs Marketing Manager and external partners to create and implement social marketing strategy  

• Ensures Marketing Manager and content partners create content appropriate to Cowgirl’s various owned social channels and its audiences, and ensures timely analysis of insights from content performance.

Creative & Brand

• Directs Creative Designer and any external partners’ work in generating trade and consumer facing collateral.

• Maintains and upholds Cowgirl’s Brand Identity through Creative Designer for all Cowgirl channels (POS, signage, digital assets, etc.) 

• Cross-departmental Support, including collaboration with E-Commerce and Procurement teams; driving cross-functional New Product Development strategy and innovation pipeline; onsite brand experience at retail store and café.

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of marketing experience with a background in leading consumer product brands, food & beverage CPG strongly preferred. 

• Master's degree in marketing or related field (or MBA) a plus but not required.

• Previous management experience of direct reports, including management of people at different levels of their careers. 

• Proven ability of complex project management, influencing and working with cross-functional teams to execute key strategic projects.  

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. 

• Superior written and verbal skills. 

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Hootsuite (or similar), Shopify, MailChimp 

• Strong visual, communication, analytical, and reporting skills. 

• Highly analytical and able to make and influence decisions based on data. Experience with shopper syndicated data preferred (IRI, SPINs, Nielsen). 

• Ability to support changing company culture.

• Passion for organic food and sustainable agriculture a must. 

• Occasional domestic and international travel required (up to 10% of time/year).
