Accountant / Accounting Manager

Rate of payStarting at $105000 per year

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting activities of the organization. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting, as well as implementing efficient accounting processes and procedures.

Compensation:

$105k+ based upon experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. 
  • Assist with recruits and new hires with accounting and financial staffing and conducts performance evaluations.        
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:   

  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.       
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. 
  • Assist with tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.
  • Ensures payroll tax compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. 
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Financial Reporting:       

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).  
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary on financial performance to senior management.        
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.


Internal Controls and Compliance:    

  • Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and regulatory compliance reviews.


Payroll Processing:   

  • Collaborate with the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely processing of client payroll, including tax withholdings and benefits deductions.   
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.

Special Projects:

  • Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.    
  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making.

Education and Experience:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.     
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.   
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership ability and experience in team management and development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and driving in a vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds or more, at times.
  • Ability to travel; both local during the business day.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
