The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, and merchandise products, and support the store management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
- Provide a positive representation
- Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when leaving the store
- Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers and associates
- Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively
- Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of the management
- Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products
- Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
Store Operations:
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
- Assist in creating a positive, professional, and safe work environment
- Assist with receiving, checking in, and stocking merchandise throughout the store
- Assist with maintaining back stock levels
- Assist with the daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise area
- Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
- Responsive for safety issues
- Conscious of shoplifting activity
- Aid customers in locating merchandise in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders
- Be professional in appearance and actions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- Posses product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn.
- Experience: Sales experience in a retail environment, establishing relationships and working with customers
- Previous experience in a retail environment a plus
- Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.
- A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload freight and customer orders
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth
