We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our team at the Dine Brands Dual Brand Concept, uniting IHOP favorites with Applebees for an exciting new dining experience. The Prep Cook plays a vital role in setting the kitchen up for success by preparing ingredients, following recipes, and ensuring consistency in quality and portioning. This position is perfect for someone with strong organizational skills, a passion for food, and a commitment to supporting a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients according to standardized recipes, including washing, chopping, portioning, and measuring.
- Properly label, date, and store all food items in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of sauces, dressings, batters, and other menu items as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, walk-in coolers, and storage spaces.
- Rotate stock and manage FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to reduce waste and ensure freshness.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing deliveries.
- Monitor product quality and alert kitchen manager or chef of any issues.
- Support Line Cooks by replenishing stations during service.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to maintain efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications
- Previous prep cook, kitchen, or food service experience preferred but not required—training provided.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic food preparation techniques a plus.
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle repetitive tasks.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
