Marketing Coordinator

Job Objective: The Marketing Coordinator supports marketing and consumer engagement efforts at Straus Family Creamery. Working directly with consumers through our Consumer Services Desk and supporting the Sales & Marketing team's programs, the Marketing Coordinator gains hands-on experience across brand marketing, events, and customer engagement. We're looking for a diligent, detail-oriented self-starter with a passion for organic products and an eagerness to learn.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Consumer Relations

  • Field and respond to consumer/business inquiries in writing and by phone, utilizing company-approved response templates.
  • Capture customer data and feedback/complaints accurately in Salesforce CRM.
  • Use Salesforce to build ad hoc reports and prepare the Quarterly Consumer Services Report for leadership.
  • Track and report trending consumer issues to internal stakeholders, and partner with QA, Marketing, and Sustainability to keep response templates current.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team on product complaints and highly technical customer questions, elevating high-priority concerns as needed.
  • Document and maintain approved customer templates in an organized system. Regularly review to ensure responses are current and relevant for organizational position and market needs.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Straus’ mission, values, product characteristics, and organizational stance on current affairs/policy issues. Actively seek to grow industry knowledge through internal and external news sources, social channels, and other media.


Sales & Marketing Department Administrative Support

  • Prepare and mail packages, including product samples, influencer mailings, merchandiser and broker materials, and trade show table-top materials.
  • Provide backup coverage for the Order Desk, Office Administrator, and Farmers Market roles as needed.
  • Maintain marketing materials inventory & distribution (all POS, signage, swag, coupons, sell sheets, and other materials in marketing closet).
  • Track coupon performance, report biannually on redemption, and maintain a relationship with the coupon clearing house management.
  • Manage company product donations and sponsorships, including budget and annual reporting. Receive and process SFC’s consumer donation process within the pre-approved budget. Coordinate with recipients to manage order and product pick-up.
  • Manage marketing and packaging assets across our digital asset management platforms (Canto, IX-One, Syndigo, and others).
  • Special projects as needed.


Marketing Trade & Event Management

  • Organize and coordinate company participation in trade and industry shows, events, and conferences such as Petaluma’s Butter & Eggs, Western Days, International Pizza Expo, SproutsCon, and UNFI trade shows.
  • Lead all annual planning, execution, and post-mortem for Natural Products Expo West Trade Show. Direct and manage all vendor relationships accordingly. Track and manage associated expenses with the VP of Marketing.
  • Coordinate in-store and out-of-store demos and sampling events to drive brand awareness and product trial.


General

  • Follow all safety, health, and emergency protocols, and help keep marketing spaces clean, organized, and hazard-free.
  • Ensure work is produced in the most sustainable manner.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and work ethic.
  • Other duties, as requested.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in an administrative, customer service, or marketing role
  • Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or equivalent CRM database is required.
  • Strong written and oral business communication.
  • Proficient MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel skills.
  • Strong listening skills and a genuine desire to turn customers into loyal brand advocates.
  • Passion for mission-driven, sustainability-focused work

Physical & Mental

  • Primarily a desk-based role requiring extended computer use; vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and general focus, along with the ability to communicate via speech, writing, and hearing.
  • Able to climb stairs and balance; occasionally stands, walks, and bends, and can lift items up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbs, pushes, pulls, reaches, grasps, and turns or bends the head, torso, arms, and legs.
  • Occasionally works in manufacturing environments (cold, wet, humid, high-allergen) with temperatures ranging from -20° to 100° Fahrenheit.


Work Location & Hours

  • Hybrid schedule: a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in Petaluma.
  • Additional on-site days may be scheduled periodically to support marketing operations, consumer engagement, events, or cross-functional business needs.
  • Standard office hours are 8:30 am–5:00 pm. Occasional schedule adjustments may be needed for pre-planned events or coverage support.
  • Occasional local travel may be required for marketing events, shipping coordination, and travel between Petaluma and Rohnert Park, estimated at approximately 15%


SUCCESS INDICATORS

  • Maintain Consumer Desk response rate of 48 hours
  • Timely, accurate delivery of the Quarterly Consumer Services Report
  • Partnership with the VP of Marketing and Brand Manager on SalesForce execution of Gravity Forms/Wordpress for ad hoc Consumer Desk responses
  • Meet the Sales Team's needs for the Retail and Foodservice trade show. Logistics and supplies sent on time and within budget.
  • Seamless execution of Natural Products Expo West — all attendee logistics (hotel, meeting space, and booth) booked on time and within budget.
