Job Overview: The Director, Maintenance & Engineering, will manage the maintenance and engineering operations of our fast-paced premium dairy processing and distribution facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of all equipment and processes. This role is responsible for leading the execution of daily operational plan and for significant measurable focus areas which include labor and maintenance costs, equipment efficiency, down time, and minimizing milk, ingredient and packaging waste while assuring highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance, as well as building a high performing department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance and engineering strategies to ensure 24/7 operational reliability of production systems, utilities, and facilities.
  • Drive process improvements, cost control initiatives, and equipment reliability through collaboration with Operations leadership.
  • Oversee development and implementation of SOPs, automation standards, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manage equipment procurement, installation, and vendor relationships.
  • Utilize KPIs and CMMS data to optimize asset utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.


Education & Experience

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or equivalent technical background.
  • 10+ years in food/beverage manufacturing (dairy preferred).
  • 8+ years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in CMMS, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and PLC systems (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens).
  • Proven experience managing CapEx budgets, process improvements, and vendor negotiations.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and food safety standards.

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with frequent time on the production floor.
  • Ability to make quick, high-stakes decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in environments ranging from -20°F to 100°F, including cold, wet, and humid conditions.
  • Ability to work in high-noise areas (hearing protection provided) and detect critical auditory and visual cues.
  • Proficient in reading diagrams, interpreting technical data, and using computer systems for extended periods.
