Maintenance Technician Level II

Full-time
Rate of pay$30 - 36 per hour

Role Objective: The Maintenance Technician Level II will perform maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks and/or repairs including but not limited to those on production equipment, material handling equipment, facilities, boilers, wastewater systems, and company vehicles, in a more advanced/higher skillset capacity. MT2 also ensures execution of efficient and effective operational maintenance processes and procedures to enable the Organization to maximize profitability and achievement of strategic goals.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with production line Operators and teams, Operations Leadership, Controls, and Quality teams on process and maintenance issues and root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives that support cost reduction efforts, yield loss containment, and quality/safety improvements
  • Work with Maintenance and cross functional teams to oversee and ensure the timely preparation and maintenance of production machines and supporting equipment for daily production
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment (electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic) and systems requiring isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment, and repair bearings, gears, structural components, etc.
  • Work on assigned projects and respond to urgent maintenance calls from production Operations teams
  • Perform mechanical/maintenance work connected with various facilities projects - electrical, carpentry, and plumbing
  • Welding, wiring, and machining operations incidental to repair and maintenance tasks
  • Assist with management of production equipment spare parts inventory
  • Test boiler/water softeners, verify blowdowns, and check safety cut-outs; open/close boiler for annual inspection
  • Assembly of PVC, ABS, and copper piping/sweating, as needed
  • May also assist on line changeovers, performing needed adjustments, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • May also perform regular daily maintenance functions of level I maintenance technician, as needed

Training & Development

  • Effectively, consistently, and professionally communicate continuing events to peer team members and operations leadership, as well as cross-functional teams
  • May assist with the training and development of maintenance team members, guiding with a positive disposition and personal high quality work ethic
  • Remains current with emerging industry regulations/codes related to mechanical/electrical systems design and operation

Safety          

  • Must comply with all company policies communicated through your Employee Manual, Code of Safety, trainings, notice boards or other postings, or by a member of management
  • Must immediately communicate any safety hazard to a member of management
  • Must work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety, security and emergency requirements that are communicated, whether established by manager, by the company or by law

General Functions

  • Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and any/all established processes, whether established by manager, by the company or by law
  • Must participate in team meetings, biweekly huddles, safety meetings and other company meetings, as requested
  • Must support companywide sustainability goals to manage all resources and assist with the communication of these goals to maintenance team
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and work ethic
  • Must be flexible to work OT and different shifts when required and to work weekends, as business needs arise
  • Other duties as requested

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred but not required
  • 5 or more years of advanced maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or dairy industry
  • PSM (Process Safety Management) and good understanding of process control, required
  • Extensive experience recognizing/troubleshooting maintenance issues and addressing repairs
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) experience, preferred
  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and gas systems (liquid propane, boilers). and industrial electrical, required
  • Experience with ARC, MIG, and TIG welding skills, required
  • Experience with refrigeration/HVAC and/or liquid processing, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team/in a group setting and maintaining a positive working environment, required
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Suite), smart technology (iOS), and willingness to expand technical knowledge in these areas. Redzone efficiency experience, a plus
  • Comprehension of basic business math and preparing concise/accurate records and reports, required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in English, with cross functional team members, supervisors, customers, and vendors, preferred but not required
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Must posses valid Driver's License, good driving record, and reliable transportation to travel between locations as needed/requested, required
  • Must be flexible to work OT and different shifts and holidays if/when required and to work on weekends, as Operational needs arise

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and to withstand noise produced by manufacturing and warehouse machinery up to 90 decibels
  • Ability to withstand frequent periods of walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers. - Repetitive at times
  • Ability to occasionally sit at a workstation and work on a computer/look at a computer screen
  • The senses of being able to see, hear and have full power of speech are required
  • The ability to climb and balance is essential
  • Ability to work at high elevations (i.e., rooftops, tops of tanks)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -10° to 100° Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, humid environments
  • Ability to work in high allergen environments
  • Ability to lift, hold and/or carry 55 pounds, unassusted
  • Flexibility to work different shifts when required, to be on call afterhours, and to work weekends
