Packaging Supervisor

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of our production lines and through the sustained supervision of production and packaging line teams. This role ensures that all products are packed according to quality standards and regulatory requirements, while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and manage the packing line team, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor packing processes to ensure products meet quality and safety standards and adjust procedures as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections and spot audits of work in progress and work completed, testing products, and verifying code dates for accuracy, to ensure conformance to all established quality specifications.
  • Oversee inventory levels of packing materials and supplies. Coordinate with procurement and dock teams to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues on the packing line. Implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, quality checks, and any incidents. Prepare regular reports for management.
  • Ensure minimization of product loss and protect the finished goods inventory against loss and shrinkage.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Effectively communicate continuing events to peer supervisors/team and/or following shift team.

Training, Development, & Safety

  • Train and develop packaging line team members on proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation, guiding with a consistently positive disposition and personal high-quality work ethic.
  • Manage performance and annual evaluations process for all direct reports.
  • Consistently work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety, and security requirements that are communicated to you, whether established by the company or by law.
  • Enforce safety regulations and practices to maintain a safe working environment. Address safety concerns promptly.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and any/all established processes, whether established by their manager, by the company or by law.
  • Work with management and P&C training team to help identify staffing and training needs


General Functions

  • Exemplify Company values and ensures communication to and adherence from direct reports.
  • Comply with all Company policies communicated through your Team Member Handbook, training, notice boards or other postings, or by a member of management.
  • Participate in team meetings and other Company meetings, as required, or requested.
  • Support companywide sustainability goals by managing resources.

  • Other duties or projects, as requested.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a food processing or manufacturing environment, required; within dairy industry is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and GMP regulations; HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) certification or similar food safety certification strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with automated packaging systems and machinery and basic troubleshooting skills and ability to calmly respond to equipment or other problems, and find solutions.
  • Proficient knowledge Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams, required.
  • Familiarity with RedZone operational efficiency platform, ERP (Business Central), and HRIS systems, required.
  • Basic business math to verify accurate counting/tracking of inventories and be able to convert measurements.
  • Experience operating varied warehouse equipment including power/manual pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Proficient bilingual (English/Spanish), required.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with routine time spent on the production floor.
  • Ability to withstand noise produced by machinery, up to 90 decibels.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents.
  • Ability to communicate via speech, writing and hearing with employees, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Full organoleptic (sight, smell, taste) senses are required to evaluate and make sound decisions on product quality and production processes
  • Ability to work on a computer and look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers. – Repetitive at times.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • The ability to climb and balance is essential
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -20° to 100° Fahrenheit.
  • Working in cold, wet, humid environments and in high allergen environments is essential.


WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is based in Rohnert Park, CA. Work schedule is Sunday through Thursday and hours vary but generally, start time is 1:00pm.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts when required, to be on call after hours, and to work weekends and all holidays is required. This role is not eligible for remote work. Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
