POSITION OVERVIEW:


Love BBQ, craft beer, and working events? Brown Iron Brewhouse is looking for a Food Truck Operator who may also want to potentially work as a Food Expeditor to send out and/or take some of our most popular menu items on the road to local events, festivals, and community gatherings. What we're known for is our huge craft beer selection, smoked BBQ, and scratch-made pub food, all served in a relaxed, community-focused environment. This role is perfect for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be interacting with guests, preparing and serving food, and helping create the fun, welcoming experience Brown Iron is known for. This position requires someone who can work independently, handle food preparation and cash transactions, drive the company food truck to events, and maintain excellent food safety and cleanliness standards.

FOOD TRUCK OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and drive the company food truck to event locations (up to 100 miles away)
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to company recipes and food safety standards
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service
  • Set up and break down the food truck at event sites
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures
  • Track sales, inventory usage, and event performance using basic Excel sheets
  • Communicate with management regarding inventory, scheduling, and event logistics
  • Ensure the truck is stocked, organized, and ready for service before each event


FOOD EXPEDITOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary communication link between the kitchen and the service staff to ensure orders are accurate and timely
  • Double-check every ticket for allergen or dietary restrictions to ensure the kitchen has followed safety protocols perfectly
  • Inspect every plate before it leaves the kitchen to verify it meets quality, portion, and presentation standards
  • Assist in final dish preparation by adding final garnishes and sauces to plates and ensuring all necessary sides are included
  • Maintain fast service
  • Uphold quality and sanitation standards
  • Communicating orders and information between the front of house and back of the house
  • Monitor the flow of the kitchen line and alert managers if the "pace" of the room is getting backed up
  • Coordinate the timing of various dishes so that every guest at a table receives their meal at the same time
  • Oversee the movement of orders from a guest placing the order to the cleaning of the table
  • Organize and clean the "pass" area, managing trays and screen tickets to keep the window clear
  • Quickly address any mistakes or remakes to ensure they are prioritized and sent out immediately



FOOD TRUCK OPERATOR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in a restaurant, kitchen, or foodservice environment
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable driving a company vehicle
  • Experience handling cash and POS transactions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of Excel or spreadsheet tracking
  • Understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Ability to perform basic math for transactions and inventory
  • Excellent personal hygiene and professional appearance
  • Must be willing to travel up to 100 miles for events
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Absolute commitment to food safety and allergy protocols to ensure a safe experience for guests with dietary restrictions
  • Proficiency in knife skills and the ability to maintain consistency in portioning and presentation
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during a heavy "rush" while maintaining clear communication


FOOD EXPEDITOR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to track and organize multiple order tickets simultaneously in a high-pressure, loud environment
  • Clear and confident communication skills to direct both kitchen staff and servers
  • A high level of urgency and the ability to stay calm during peak rushes
  • Sharp attention to detail to catch errors in plating, temperature, or ingredients before they reach the guest
  • Thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and specific allergen-free preparations
  • Ability to stand for long shifts in a hot kitchen and move quickly between stations
  • Strong problem-solving skills to manage order timing and fix mistakes on the fly
  • Commitment to a team-first environment, helping both the front and back of house succeed
  • Fluency in English
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Desire and ability to be cross-trained in other areas of the restaurant


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and small kitchen spaces
