Food Safety Coordinator

Role Description:

The Food Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of food

safety, cleanliness, and quality. They support daily operations and teammates like the

Operations Coordinator, but primarily focus on compliance with food safety regulations,

coaching the team on proper procedures, and creating a culture where cleanliness and quality

are top priority. Their primary goal is that every guest receives safe and excellent food in a

clean and well-maintained environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enforce all food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local health codes and company standards
  • Train and coach team members and supervisors on proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness
  • Conduct regular food safety audits, temperature checks, and equipment inspection
  • Monitor food quality, ensuring freshness, proper labeling, and waste reduction
  • Ensure restaurant cleanliness, from kitchen operations to front-of-house presentation
  • Support supervisors in maintaining a well-organized, food-safe work environment
  • Assist managers in implementing food safety initiatives and corrective action plan
  • Handle and document food safety incidents, ensuring swift resolution and compliance
  • Lead Food Safety Initiatives
  • Lead/Attend Ecosure Visit
  • Lead/Attend Quality Inspection Visits
  • Follow and promote all Pathways Training procedures


Areas of Emphasis

  • Adhere to Food Safety 5
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures are followed
  • Conduct regular SAFE audits and enforce corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with health department regulations and company policies
  • Be ServSafe Certified and keep current on all food safety industry standards
  • Educate team members on food safety best practices
  • Hold leadership and team members accountable for maintaining safety standards
  • Lead by example in cleanliness, organization, and proper procedures
  • Host training sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with training manager as needed
  • Emphasize the (little things) to get the big things right
  • Work alongside supervisors to maintain a well-run, food-safe shift
  • Ensure kitchen, dining room, and storage areas remain clean and organized
  • Support operational efficiency while prioritizing safety and quality
  • Conduct hourly checks on quality (observe drinks, cleanliness, gloves & hand-washing, bagging area, etc.)
  • Safe Daily Critical & ERQA


Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have flexible availability including Saturdays
  • Prior food safety experience is a plus
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Servant Leadership Mindset
  • Friendly and positive attitude
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Complete repetitive tasks
  • Be able to perform all functions of the job physically
