POSITION SUMMARY
The Working Foreman/Responsible Managing Individual (RMI) serves as the Company's designated Responsible Managing Individual for contractor licensing purposes and provides technical leadership and oversight of the Company's construction operations. This position supervises projects, employees, and subcontractors while performing skilled hands-on construction work. Responsibilities include estimating, project coordination, quality control, customer relations, regulatory compliance, and installation of Hunter Douglas window treatments in accordance with Company standards and applicable requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the Company's designated Responsible Managing Individual (RMI) in accordance with applicable contractor licensing requirements.
- Provide technical supervision and leadership for all construction operations.
- Plan, estimate, organize, schedule, and oversee residential and commercial construction projects from initial consultation through completion.
- Meet with customers to evaluate projects, prepare estimates, and develop scopes of work.
- Perform and supervise skilled construction work, including carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry, doors and windows, siding, decks, fencing, concrete repairs, and related remodeling activities.
- Install Hunter Douglas window treatments in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Company quality standards.
- Conduct site assessments, field measurements, and quality-control inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and Company standards.
- Coordinate labor, subcontractors, equipment, materials, deliveries, and project schedules.
- Maintain accurate project records, daily reports, photographs, change orders, and other documentation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Purchase materials and assist with material takeoffs and estimating.
- Operate construction tools, equipment, Company vehicles, and approved machinery safely.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites while ensuring compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety requirements.
- Serve as the Company's primary field representative with customers, inspectors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Assist in maintaining Company licenses, permits, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise employees as business needs require.
- Develop and support Company operating procedures, safety programs, quality-control standards, and employee training.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the successful operation of the Company's construction business.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible construction or remodeling experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Qualifications necessary to serve as the Company's Responsible Managing Individual in accordance with applicable contractor licensing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in residential and commercial construction, including multiple skilled trades.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Experience preparing estimates, material takeoffs, project schedules, and field documentation.
- Proficiency with construction tools, equipment, and mobile technology used for project management and reporting.
- OSHA 10 certification or the ability to obtain certification within a reasonable period.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety practices, and quality-control standards.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to supervise crews while performing skilled hands-on construction work.
- Ability to identify construction issues, recommend practical solutions, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Commitment to professionalism, customer service, safety, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance or mechanical equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Ability to safely work at heights, on ladders and scaffolding, and in confined spaces when required.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely operate construction equipment, company vehicles, and job site machinery.
- Willingness to travel to project sites, including overnight travel or extended assignments as required.
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Working Foreman/RMI shall maintain all licenses and qualifications required to serve as the Company's Responsible Managing Individual and participate in all required continuing education, safety training, code updates, manufacturer training, and Company training. The Working Foreman/RMI is expected to remain current on applicable laws, licensing requirements, building codes, and industry best practices while assisting in the training and development of Company personnel.
