Catering Assistant

Job Summary

As a Catering Assistant, you will support the preparation, setup, and service of meals for catering events and internal food service needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Always show up with a smile
  • Assist in preparing food items according to catering sheets, recipes, and event requests
  • Follow proper portioning, measuring, and standardized utensil use
  • Maintain food quality and freshness using batch cooking and proper storage methods
  • Monitor and record food holding temperatures to ensure safety and quality
  • Report food quality issues, shortages, expired products, or delivery concerns
  • Support setup and breakdown of catering events, including organizing equipment and supplies
  • Assist with training team members on safe and proper equipment use
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and prep area
  • Complete required documentation and assist with catering-related computer tasks
  • Work collaboratively with the team or independently depending on event needs
  • Provide excellent service to guests, staff, and vendors

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of catering, banquet, or food service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to follow directions and event service plans accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform moderate physical tasks throughout a shift
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Food Sanitation Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
