Job Summary
As a Catering Assistant, you will support the preparation, setup, and service of meals for catering events and internal food service needs.
What You’ll Do
- Always show up with a smile
- Assist in preparing food items according to catering sheets, recipes, and event requests
- Follow proper portioning, measuring, and standardized utensil use
- Maintain food quality and freshness using batch cooking and proper storage methods
- Monitor and record food holding temperatures to ensure safety and quality
- Report food quality issues, shortages, expired products, or delivery concerns
- Support setup and breakdown of catering events, including organizing equipment and supplies
- Assist with training team members on safe and proper equipment use
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and prep area
- Complete required documentation and assist with catering-related computer tasks
- Work collaboratively with the team or independently depending on event needs
- Provide excellent service to guests, staff, and vendors
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ year of catering, banquet, or food service experience preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation, and sanitation procedures
- Ability to follow directions and event service plans accurately
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform moderate physical tasks throughout a shift
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Food Sanitation Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
