Position Summary
Black Bear Talent are seeking a motivated and customer focused Sales Associate to join our clients team in Harrisonburg, Va.. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in both the showroom and sales environment, supporting customers through product selection, order processing, and relationship building. The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with customers, enjoys problem solving, and is confident handling phone conversations with both existing and prospective clients.
Prior sales experience preferred working within a wholesale distributor serving contractors, commercial businesses, and industrial customers with plumbing, HVAC, waterworks, electrical, and related construction products preferred.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm
Pay Scale: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in the showroom, providing exceptional customer service and product support.
- Answer incoming phone calls and effectively navigate conversations to determine customer needs and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Build relationships with customers by providing timely and professional support.
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently within company systems.
- Generate quotes, enter orders, and assist with order tracking and follow up.
- Support both inside and outside sales activities by assisting customers, identifying opportunities, and helping drive sales growth.
- Make outbound calls to customers for follow up, order updates, and sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure customer requests are handled promptly and professionally.
- Maintain showroom appearance and assist customers with product information and recommendations.
- Utilize computer systems to manage customer information, orders, and sales activities.
- Learn product knowledge and industry terminology to better support customers and sales efforts.
Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Prior sales experience preferred working within a wholesale distributor serving contractors, commercial businesses, and industrial customers with plumbing, HVAC, waterworks, electrical, and related construction products
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable answering phones and speaking with new customers.
- Ability to confidently make outbound calls when needed.
- Computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
- Professional demeanor with a customer first mindset.
- Self motivated and eager to learn.
