Senior Cost Accountant

Black Bear Talent is recruiting for a Senior-Level Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and reconciling inventory and cost standards, including both manufacturing and overhead expenses. This individual will play a key role in monitoring daily financial activity and supporting overall business performance by building and refining systems used to collect, analyze, validate, and report financial data.


This position is a direct hire with our client.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities related to cost analysis and reporting, including margin evaluation

• Establish and maintain standard costs for materials and labor

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of cost accounting systems and processes

• Review production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements

• Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, ensuring accuracy at month-end

• Recommend and implement process improvements and corrective actions as needed

• Partner with leadership to support annual audit activities

• Help ensure financial reporting goals and deadlines are achieved

• Maintain accurate documentation of financial transactions and records

• Assist in coordinating and overseeing annual physical inventory processes

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a Cost Accountant or Senior Accountant role

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with experience using ERP systems and databases

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage large data sets

• In-depth understanding of cost accounting methodologies and best practices

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Strong written and verbal communication skills


Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field

Preferred Experience

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting

• Background in manufacturing environments, including ERP-based inventory management and valuation

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting

• Self-directed with strong organizational and project management capabilities
