Black Bear Talent is seeking a highly capable and well-rounded Human Resources Generalist for our client. This is a direct-hire opportunity with strong growth potential for an HR professional who brings solid business acumen, a strong HR foundation, and a talent-growth mindset. The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting the organization through full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and collaboration with leaders on both day-to-day and strategic HR initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and execute effective recruitment strategies to attract and retain high-quality talent.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting activities, including applicant screening, interviewing, and partnering with hiring managers to ensure timely, fair, and consistent hiring decisions.
- Represent the organization at university and community job fairs to attract early-career and experienced talent.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employee benefits by maintaining a thorough understanding of available benefit programs and options.
- Maintain regular contact with newly hired employees to support successful onboarding and assimilation into the organization.
- In partnership with the HR Business Partner, proactively manage employee relations matters, including conducting prompt, fair, and equitable investigations.
- Collaborate with HR team members and leadership to develop and support employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of strategic HR programs and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Recommend enhancements to HR programs and processes with a focus on business needs, compliance, and employee experience.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, process employment-related documentation, and maintain accurate and confidential personnel files.
- Process employee status changes including promotions, transfers, demotions, and compensation adjustments.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding leaves of absence, benefits, policies, and the employee handbook.
- Manage and submit unemployment reporting as required.
- Support company culture and engagement initiatives, including employee relations campaigns, roundtables, and related programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support HR and organizational objectives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a salaried, exempt role.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
- Experience working with, or the ability to quickly learn, HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability and willingness to work off shifts as business needs require.
- Demonstrated sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align HR practices with organizational strategy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based applications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Two (2) or more additional years of experience in recruiting and employee relations; a Master’s degree in Human Resources may substitute for experience.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Prior experience supporting a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using ADP for HRIS and applicant tracking.
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.
