Black Bear Talent is seeking an experienced and service driven General Manager to lead the daily operations of a full service restaurant. This individual will oversee all front and back of house operations while fostering a positive team culture, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and driving operational and financial success. The ideal candidate is a hands on leader with strong hospitality, organizational, and communication skills who thrives in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead by example and model the company’s values
• Oversee all restaurant operations and ensure smooth daily execution
• Ensure proper staffing levels for management and hourly team members
• Interview and hire management and hourly staff
• Conduct new hire orientations and onboarding
• Ensure all training and development programs are implemented and followed consistently
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members for continued growth and success
• Facilitate weekly management meetings and encourage strong communication between departments
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive work environment
• Provide regular recognition, performance feedback, and coaching to team members
• Follow company procedures related to employee performance management and terminations
Guest Experience & Operations
• Ensure exceptional guest service and hospitality standards are consistently maintained
• Handle guest concerns and ensure proper guest recovery procedures are followed
• Monitor guest feedback, including social media reviews, and identify opportunities for improvement
• Maintain consistent food quality, cleanliness, and service standards
• Ensure all company systems, checklists, and operational procedures are properly followed
• Complete regular facility walkthroughs and address maintenance or operational concerns
• Support successful execution of daily shifts and restaurant operations
Community & Marketing
• Build relationships within the local community to increase restaurant visibility and guest loyalty
• Develop partnerships with local businesses, schools, churches, and tourism organizations
• Support local restaurant marketing initiatives that align with the company’s brand and mission
• Coordinate charitable partnerships and community engagement opportunities
• Assist with planning and executing local events and promotions
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
• Prepare and review financial and operational reports
• Develop and implement plans to improve profitability and operational efficiency
• Achieve or exceed budgeted sales and financial goals
• Approve schedules and oversee labor management
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Participate in unemployment proceedings and related employee matters when necessary
Qualifications
• Previous management experience in a full service restaurant environment preferred
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team building skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to multitask and make effective decisions in a fast paced environment
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Comfortable using restaurant technology and management systems
• Ability to remain professional and positive under pressure
• Passion for hospitality and guest service excellence
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to navigate stairs and multiple restaurant levels throughout the day
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work up to 48 hours per week as needed
