3rd Shift Production Supervisor

Position Summary 

The 3rd Shift Production Supervisor is accountable for executing night-to-night operating activities of manufacturing and the sanitation of the entire manufacturing facility at the end of each production week. This supervisory position will oversee night shift Production to ensure all bakery products are produced safely and meet or exceed customer specifications and expectations. The Production Supervisor is responsible for enforcing all personnel safety, food safety, and Quality Standard Operating Procedures.  


Job duties and responsibilities 

  • Responsible for waste reduction, labor savings, and downtime reduction on 3rd shift. 
  • Implement continuous improvement changes in all areas including safety and quality improvements, cost reduction, and associate satisfaction. 
  • Responsible for night shift staffing.    
  • Supervise, train, and motivate associates to meet production schedules and comply with JDF’s quality, safety, production, and cleanliness standards.  
  • Supervise and train associates on the operation of all cleaning equipment and proper chemical handling.  
  • Communicate with leadership and Maintenance team to ensure consistency in direction and day-to-day activities and to resolve mechanical issues as they arise, proactively reaching out with consistent updates and elevating concerns when needed. 
  • Act as main point of contact for associate relations, communicating incidents or concerns to People Services and/or Production Manager, partnering with People Services for any investigations and delivering coaching when needed.  
  • Provide timely and effective communication of operational information to all levels of associates through 1-on-1, small group, and department meetings. 
  • Provide effective written documentation, including but not limited to logs, production summaries, injury reports. 
  • Complete and verify the Bakery Production and Bakery Quality Assurance Food Safety packets daily.  
  • Inventory and order sanitation chemicals and equipment, communicating with Supply chain as needed. 
  • Monitor and correct time clock issues and work with payroll to resolve pay issues.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Quality and Food Safety requirements 

  • Comply with all USDA, FDA, and ODA regulations. 
  • Understand and perform all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). 
  • Report all Food Safety concerns immediately to leadership. 
  • Be aware of all safety guidelines (including but not limited to: LO/TO, HazCom Chemical Handling, Confined Spaces, PPE) and maintain a safe working environment. 

Minimum requirements 

Education 

  • High School degree or general education degree (GED) 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Able to lift 35 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally 
  • Able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps 
  • Able to work in temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks with constant hand and wrist movement 

Work Experience 

  • 5-7 year's experience in food manufacturing preferred. 
  • Industrial high-speed food manufacturing supervisory experience a plus 
  • Sanitation supervisory experience a plus  
  • Previous experience with NetSuites a plus  
  • Experience leading a workforce of up to 40 associates and hourly leads   
  • Communication with Leadership 
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement, 5S, Lean Manufacturing a plus
