General Manager For IHOP #5438 in Ankeny

JOB SUMMARY


We are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager to lead our IHOP restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead and motivate the restaurant team to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain high standards of food quality and safety.
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations including food preparation, kitchen management, and front-of-house functions all while ensuring that employee recruitment and training, operations, food preparation, food safety and sanitation, and security practices are in compliance with SOP in these areas.
  • Carrying our supervisory duties such as recruitment and hiring, training, directing workflow, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints and problems.
  • Manage inventory food control, ordering supplies and ensuring proper food handling procedures are followed to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Utilize POS systems such as Micros POS or ELO POS for accurate cash handling, sales tracking and reporting.
  • Supervise staff hiring, training, coaching, and development to build a skilled and motivated team all while developing and maintaining professional functional working relatships with the restaurant hourly employees and the franchisee organization.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and health codes across all areas of the restaurant.
  • Monitor financial performance by managing budgets, controlling expenses, and analyzing sales data to maximize profitability.
  • Oversee shift management, ensuring smooth transitions between shifts while maintaining operational consistency.
  • Foster a welcome environment that emphasizes hospitality management principles to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular staff performance evaluations and facilitate ongoing training and development initiatives.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies when necessary.
  • Follow and enforce proper register/cash-handling procedures.
  • Complete all required reports and enter new hires into Workstream software on a timely basis.

SKILLS

  • Proven management experience in a quick service casual dining environment with supervising responsibilities.
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management with culinary experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Micros POS and ELO POS for transaction processing and reporting.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on hospitality management and team leadership in order ot manage and motivate.
  • Experience in food costs, inventory control, food safety standards, budgeting, and food industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to train staff effectively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-pace setting.
  • Three year sof previous experience in restaurant management roles such as an Assistant Manager or Shift Supervisor in a casual dining setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations and catering operations is a plus.
  • Availablility to work days, nights and weekends
  • Basic computer skills including experience with email, MS Excel, MS Word is required.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Ability to operate restaurant equipment to include the BOH and FOH systems.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee frequently is required to use their hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee regularly must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Ability to speak and read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and guests.
  • Basic computer skills including Email, MS Excel, MS Word is a plus
