Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Specialist to join our team. As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities for individuals in assisted living and nursing home settings. Your role will involve providing therapeutic recreation programs to enhance physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Duties:
- Develop and implement recreational therapy programs tailored to the needs and abilities of residents
- Organize and lead group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, and exercise classes
- Coordinate special events and outings to promote social engagement and community integration
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who require additional assistance during activities
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans that incorporate recreational therapy goals
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring the safety and comfort of residents
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and progress in recreational therapy programs
- Ensure proper storage and maintenance of recreational equipment and supplies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, social work, or a related field preferred
- Certified Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Previous experience in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and strategies is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to manage schedules and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for individuals in assisted living or nursing home settings
