Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


General Skills and Description:


High school or equivalent education required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

1 – 2 years HR experience preferred

Prior hotel experience preferred.

Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in obtaining and disseminating information.  

Bi-lingual with Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.


Physical Demands:


Indoor temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.

Must be able to sit/stand at a desk for up to 7 hours per day.  Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day.  Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. 

Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. 

Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.

Human Resources Responsibilities: 


This position provides administrative support to the HR function as needed (e.g. record keeping, file maintenance HRIS entry, reporting).  Assists in administering associate health, welfare, and retirement plans.  This position acts as a liaison between associates and insurance providers to resolve benefits-related issues.  The HR Coordinator also ensures plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed.  


Essential Functions

• Handles confidential & sensitive information that pertains to candidate and employment matters.  

• Provides positive team member relations and experiences through the administration, communication, coordination and application of human resources policies, practices and procedures.  

• Confirms data & pay concerning transfer of employees (additional jobs) between departments is accurate. 

• Reconcile employee benefit changes, enrollments, additions in Paylocity and review billing for accuracy.  

• Processes new-hire, termination, and status change paperwork; coordinates completion with department managers and ensures completeness of information regarding established procedures.  

• Facilitates onboarding of new team members and ensures completion of new hire paperwork and establishment onboarding process. 

• Assist associates with benefit changes and/or new hires, provide general assistance regarding benefit questions or concerns.  Assist in resolving associate benefit issues and refer difficult or complex complaints to manager as needed. 

• Act as a resource for payroll/HR contacts and ensure compliance with benefits and HR policies and regulations.  

• Assists in posting job opportunities both internally and externally.

• Schedule potential applicants for interviews and assist in conducting first round interviews with candidates. 

• Active member of Associate Events Team (A-Team).  Coordinate A-Team meetings and/or special events.

• Assist in coordinating monthly All Associate Birthday Celebrations as well as Admin/Manager individual Birthday recognition.

• Manage recognition program with Verasa Bucks redemption:  obtain redemption vouchers, track redemption, purchase necessary product and distribute to team members.  

• Assist HR Manager with various projects i.e. Associate Opinion Survey, Open Enrollment, and implementation of policies, HR tracking and spreadsheets, refurbishment of HR documents. 

• Maintains associate files and ensure records are in compliance with company policies, practices and applicable laws. 

• Assist with special HR, Accounting or property projects as needed.
