Shift leads are responsible for guiding crew members to achieve production goals throughout each shift. Shift leads must be able to run the store effectively when management/ownership is not present. Shift leads communicate and work in tandem with assistant managers and the general manager to ensure that crew members stay on task and meet production goals each shift. Shift leads report directly to assistant managers and your store’s general manager. All Shift Leads are expected to undergo paid off-site and paid on-site station training as a baker before assuming the leadership position. This ensures that our leaders understand our operations before they are put in charge of others.


Shift Leader Responsibilities:

  • Operations: Shift leads are responsible for creating our daily game plan to ensure that our dough and frosting production stays on track and we don’t run out of product. Shift leads are also responsible for ensuring that crew members stay on track and productive throughout the duration of their shifts.
  • Shift leads are responsible for ensuring that we never run out of dough or toppings.
  • Customer Experience: Shift leads must be able to provide excellent customer service. They must know how to de-escalate upset customers, field customer questions, concerns, and complaints, and provide swift and appropriate resolutions to each customer issue.
  • Shift leads must know all Crumbl technology so that they can help customers troubleshoot issues and guide customers through the ordering process.
  • Employee Experience: Shift leads are responsible for monitoring crew member productivity to ensure that production goals are being met. Shift leads approve or deny breaks, issue verbal warnings, and provide crew shoutouts to those who do an amazing job. Shift leads must know and be comfortable enforcing all workplace policies.
  • Operational Knowledge: Shift leads must know all stations well enough to provide on-the-job training to new and struggling crew members. This includes mixers, ovens, dressing station, dough crew, point of sale, and back of house.
  • Attitude: Shift leads are expected to maintain a positive attitude and foster a welcoming, fun, and productive atmosphere where crew members can do their best work.
  • Checklists: Shift leads are responsible for completing daily shift checklists and submitting required information and pictures through Slack.

Shift Leader Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a current food handler’s permit, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment
  • Management experience in a restaurant/bakery setting is preferred.
  • All shift leads must undergo paid leadership training and become certified to lead in our bakery.
  • Ability to handle stress effectively.
  • Must be 18+
  • Positive attitude.
