Construction Assistant Project Manager

Gonzales Construction is currently seeking a Construction Assistant Project Manager to support project managers and superintendents through documentation management, coordination, and daily administrative execution across active construction projects.
This role will be based full-time in our Chatsworth office for approximately the next year, supporting pre-construction planning, project setup, and documentation efforts. Once construction begins, the role will transition to the job site to support day-to-day project coordination and documentation.

Schedule:
- Full-time, in-office role in Chatsworth for approximately 12 months
- Transition to on-site coordination role once construction begins
- Daily interaction with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives
Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of experience in construction coordination, project administration, APM, or similar roles
- Strong understanding of construction workflows, documentation, and project coordination
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high volume of tasks and follow-ups simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in both office and job site environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience working with large spreadsheets, tracking logs, and project documentation
- Familiar with construction/document management platforms such as Procore, Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud/Autodesk Build, PlanGrid and Bluebeam Revu
- Scheduling and coordination software experience is a plus!
- Must be comfortable working within structured, compliance-driven environments and adapting to client-specific systems, processes, and documentation standards
Responsibilities:
- Support project manager and superintendents with daily administrative and coordination tasks
- Draft and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Track project budgets and assist with schedule updates and timeline coordination
- Maintain and organize all project documentation and job files
- Track and follow up on outstanding items including RFIs, approvals, submittals, and deliverables
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries
- Facilitate material procurement and ensure timely delivery to the job site
- Assist in ensuring compliance with safety requirements and project standards
- Support contract administration and ensure documentation meets client requirements
- Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal teams to maintain project flow
- Help maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness, organization, and follow-through
- Review construction drawings and specifications for documentation and coordination purposes
