HVAC Service Technician I

- Pay: $25-30/hour, offer dependent on experience
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- 8 AM – 5 PM
What you need to succeed:
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Graduated from a HVAC training program required
- At least 1-2 years of commercial and Industrial HVAC systems preferred.
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred
- Ability to apply general concepts such as fractions, U.S. Metric System Measurements, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read blueprints and utilize a tape measurer.
- Proficiency in personal computer/iPad skills including electronic mail.
- Must be able to travel 85-90% of the time in a company vehicle; Overnight stays may be necessary.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prepares materials, tools, and equipment in the shop and at work sites.
- Loads and unloads building materials and parts into a lift truck or stake bed truck to deliver to the work site.
- Understands and utilizes the support system from Leads and Senior when running into issues.
- Executes jobsite safety & risk mitigation strategies & safely identifies jobsite hazards.
- Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures, and maintains a clean work area.
- Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures
- Follows appropriate safety procedures for handling dangerous/hazardous goods.
- Uses basic tools and equipment safely to complete daily tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Keeps work site clean and maintains a situational awareness of any hazards nearby.
- Can demonstrate a proper lockout/tagout procedures
- Assists with start-up and install of new HVAC equipment
- Can explain exhaust, transfer, outside air, and all airflow & its correlation within a system.
- Ability to work independently to perform routine maintenance on basic equipment and service repair basic level accounts with equipment such as:
- Package units up to 10 tons, Small process chillers, Evaporator coils, Heat pumps, Furnace, Unit heaters, Air conditioners, & Basic refrigeration systems
- Installs basic refrigeration lines and duct.
- Can independently perform refrigerant recovery
- Perform leak check on refrigeration lines and identify leaks
- Can use a voltmeter and other necessary diagnostic tools and can read a wiring diagram
- Understands and chooses what parts to order for a job or work order and calls to get the PO to order a specific part.
