Director of Operations

The Director of Operations is responsible ensuring exceptional patient and physician satisfaction across imaging and diagnostic services, optimizing operational performance and driving revenue growth. This role provides strategic leadership over patient outcomes, safety, sales, marketing, scheduling, workflow efficiency, and cross-departmental operations while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversees, supports, and makes contributions to patient safety by:

o Providing a safe environment for patients.

o Identifying and correcting root causes of errors.

o Implementing systems to prevent errors.

o Subscribing to the principles of responsible reporting of adverse occurrences, near misses, and safety concerns.

o Providing evidence-based care.

  • Participates in planning Lumina Imaging future growth and provides input to the operational plan of Lumina Imaging.
  • Maintains current knowledge of innovation in diagnostic imaging and healthcare to include new imaging procedures, equipment, and methods, and participates in the evaluation, testing, and application of each as appropriate.
  • Leads and collaborates with Lumina leadership and maintains positive relationships with patients and clients.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient use of diagnostic imagining equipment. Schedules preventive maintenance, initiates actions for equipment failures, and maintains service records in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop standardized policies and procedures with Lumina staff and provides suggestions for changes or additions to the polices.
  • Evaluates necessary services such as procurement of supplies, textiles services, environmental service and other necessary services and makes suggestions if modifications are necessary to these services.
  • Manages the Human Resources functions by planning, monitoring, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as needed; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards; making hiring and termination decisions.
  • Utilizes knowledge of the radiology field and imaging techniques to ensure quality assurance of the Lumina Imaging technologists and equipment. Is responsible for the process of American College of Radiologists (ACR) certification for Lumina Imaging sites.
  • Actively provides excellent customer service and ensures staff follows the same standards.
  • Analyzes operations metrics including scheduling, preauthorization, registration, and imaging by streamlining workflows and addresses barriers to performance. Collaborates with Teams to operationalize changes as needed.
  • Operates within Lumina Imaging budgets, manages resource constant with department volume. Assures adequate resources are available to accommodate Lumina imaging patients.

  • Drives sustainable patient business growth and achieves volume and revenue targets. Records and delivers results in compliance with performance compensation plan.
  • Develops and implements aggressive marketing and sales plans for Lumina and other initiatives as directed. Acts on existing targeted sources of business volume and identifies additional targets.
  • Investigates freestanding radiology network structures/dependencies, assesses payer networks’ freestanding radiology going rates from fee schedules, and solicits input on other geographic areas where Lumina presence would be valued.
  • Establishes benefit steerage and tiered designs, customizes radiology benefit carveouts for Lumina, and supports implementation of same with clients and their TPAs.
  • Obtains and reports on financial performance of client accounts and provides input into revenue budget.
  • Assesses viable opportunities to streamline radiology authorization processes and moves focus from prospective to retrospective to add operational efficiencies.
  • Conducts direct marketing to current and potential patients, enrolls and onboards new clients and their enrolled members, plans welcome marketing to new business sources, conducts events onsite, and represents Lumina and assigned initiatives at wellness events, health fairs, and similar venues.
  • Monitors and reports on customer service achievements for referring providers, employer accounts, and patients. Works with all areas of concern to improve service levels. Communicates solutions to clients and, when applicable, their consultants/brokers. Arranges and conducts operations meeting with existing clients.
  • Acts as voice of the customer to ensure that Lumina and other assigned initiatives provide the desirable level of service offerings and are well-perceived in the community.
  • Monitors competitive offerings and imports market intelligence to management. Examines Lumina’s placement in insurers’ radiology shopper sites as a preferred location for patients to seek services. Recommends strategic public relations strategies.
  • Collaborates both internally and externally to establish sales strategies for and implementation of expanded cost-control programs and/or locations. Provides input and action planning to management on new growth opportunities.


Qualifications


• Bachelor’s Degree in health care or related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience below.

• Completion of a two-year course in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved School of Radiologic Technology.

• Current Registered Technologist (RT) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

• Possess current Radiologic Licensure through the Ohio Department of Health.

• 3 years of radiology experience in MR or CT.

• Progressively responsible professional and management experience that includes planning and analysis, and program planning and development.

• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.

• Exceptional customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Reliable transportation to travel between Lumina locations.

• Master’s degree in a related field. (preferred)

• Five years of experience in Radiology. (preferred)

• Advanced imaging certification in either (MR) or (CT) through the ARRT. (preferred)
