Shop Fabricator
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Pay Range: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
Steel IT is seeking experienced Shop Fabricators to join our fabrication team in producing structural and miscellaneous steel components for commercial and industrial construction projects. This role involves reading shop drawings, layout and fit-up of steel assemblies, and performing certified welding in a controlled shop environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and skilled in steel fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Perform layout and fit-up of beams, columns, stairs, rails, and other steel elements.
- Operate fabrication tools and equipment including saws, torches, grinders, and welding machines.
- Weld components using MIG and/or stick processes per AWS standards.
- Verify dimensions and alignment using measuring devices and layout tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
- Assist in loading/unloading material and preparing finished goods for delivery.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate with supervisors to ensure quality and schedule adherence.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and welding symbols.
- Proficiency with MIG and stick welding (certifications preferred).
- Familiarity with shop fabrication tools and processes.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a production shop environment.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
Tools Required
- Basic personal hand tools including tape measure, square, clamps, and hammers.
- Welding helmet and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required daily.
Schedule & Compensation
- Workdays: Monday to Friday (occasional overtime as needed)
- Shift: Day shift
- Pay: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
