We are seeking an experienced and hands on Production Manager to lead day to day manufacturing, staging, and packaging operations in a fast paced food production environment. This role is responsible for driving productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety while ensuring customer requirements and production targets are consistently met.
Successful candidates will bring strong operational leadership, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to translate new products and processes from development into full scale production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributes to discussions and decisions pertaining to recruiting, training, scheduling, and disciplining production/stage crew members.
- Approves payroll hours for Production and Stage crew members.
- Manages daily food processing, metal detection, packaging, pallet building to meet quality standards and customer need-by dates.
- Plans, monitors, and reviews production levels/performance metrics of production crew members.
- Maintains the productivity target goal for finished product per man hour
- Conducts productivity investigations including but not limited to using equipment efficiently, scheduling labor efficiently, and identifying which premixes are beneficial.
- Monitors equipment assembly and performance for maintenance issues.
- Manages equipment and production for maximum efficiency and evaluates each station of the process to maintain optimum efficiency.
- Works with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Warehouse and Product Development to accomplish production expectations.
- Enforces all safety policies on the production floor.
- Inspects products for quality and accuracy prior to shipping and reports any issues to Quality Assurance Manager.
- Maintains communication between management and employees to ensure the necessary policies are understood and followed.
- Ensure the flow of resources is maintained and production items are delivered as needed and used properly and efficiently.
- Identifies and corrects quality issues and production bottlenecks.
- Writes SOP’s relevant to production/stage.
- Writes and follows production processes.
- Manages facility audit corrective actions for department.
- Ensures proper sanitation guidelines are followed by production/stage crew members.
- Communicates all issues/ concerns with management/owners regarding Production/Stage.
- Handles the hiring, firing, promoting, disciplining, training, and demoting of employees within departments of responsibility.
- Assists in the maintenance, implementation, and continuous improvement efforts regarding specialty products (Gluten Free, Organic, Kosher, etc.)
- Ensures that additional shifts are staffed and run effectively.
- Serves as the lead when it comes to transferring new processes and technologies from the Product Development Lab into full production
- Collaborate with Research and Development teams on new product development, experimental design, plant trials and scale up
- Confirm pack size and batch sizes for newly commercialized items based on accurate bulk density calculations
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (bachelor’s degree preferred) and 5+ years of production experience required, or combination of education and experience.
- Current forklift license preferred.
- Ability to pass and maintain a forklift certificate as required by OSHA.
- Ability to perform accurate weigh outs, understand and accurately perform math percentages, addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication as it relates to production.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the flexibility to learn new technology, SAP and ERP systems and document control systems.

- Competitive Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (based on experience) with the opportunity for quarterly bonus
