Kitchen Manager / Chef Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Kitchen Manager/Chef with strong leadership and culinary management abilities to run our kitchen with efficiency, consistency, and exceptional attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will work closely with kitchen staff, front-of-house teams, and occasionally guests. This person must ensure that all menu items are executed to the highest quality, uphold food-safety standards, and monitor the overall cost and performance of the kitchen.

A Kitchen Manager/Chef is expected to guide and support their team, maintain a clean and organized workspace, provide expert culinary direction, manage food costs, and ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for guests.

Most importantly, the ideal candidate will be dependable, solution-oriented, professional, and supportive—creating a positive kitchen environment that delivers outstanding results.

Responsibilities of a Kitchen Manager / Chef

  • Recruiting, training, and evaluating kitchen staff
  • Supervising and mentoring cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers
  • Managing food and labor budgets
  • Maintaining accurate inventory, waste logs, and kitchen records
  • Handling guest issues or food-quality concerns when necessary
  • Overseeing food purchasing, stock rotation, and cost control
  • Maximizing kitchen productivity and minimizing waste
  • Motivating staff to meet quality and timing standards
  • Setting production goals and maintaining menu consistency
  • Ensuring compliance with all food-safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Supporting menu planning, specials, plating standards, and promotions
  • Communicating effectively with management and front-of-house teams
  • Managing scheduling, performance reviews, and staff development
  • Providing growth opportunities and ongoing training for kitchen staff

Kitchen Manager / Chef Job Requirements

  • Strong culinary knowledge and commercial awareness
  • Confidence in leading a fast-paced kitchen
  • Ability to troubleshoot and stay resourceful under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Basic numerical skills for budgeting, portioning, and ordering
  • Comfortable using kitchen management software and tech too
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for quality food
  • Strong decision-making and executive functioning skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to show initiative
  • Ability to set a positive example and maintain a strong work ethic

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend availability
  • Monday to Friday
