Join our team as a Group Exercise Instructor at our downtown YMCA and make a positive impact on people's lives! We offer a flexible schedule, and are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Group Exercise Instructors to teach one or multiple formats of our group exercise program. We want instructors who are exceptional motivators and great relationship builders as a part of our member-centered environment. As an Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor, you will deliver energizing and educational group classes that promote member wellness, safety, and engagement.
Responsibilities of a Group Fitness Instructor:
- Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals
- Answer member questions and provide support to help them achieve their fitness goals
- Maintain a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members
- Build effective and authentic relationships with members, helping them connect with each other and the YMCA
- Keep accurate class attendance records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- National certification (e.g. ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction
- New Employee Orientation required within first week of hire
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen administration, and YMCA Water Fitness Instructor (completion required upon hire)
- Certification in area of expertise and Y Aquatic Safety Assistant or lifeguard certification
- Preferably at least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes
Physical Demands:
- Ability to conduct classes and activities
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including swimming, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
