Join us as an Adaptive Group Wellness Instructor and make a difference in the health and wellness of individuals with special needs. We are in need of an instructor for our adaptive class that meets every Friday at 4pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead energizing, fun, and safe group classes for members with special needs.
- Support members in achieving their health goals by answering their questions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective guidance.
- Build authentic relationships with members and foster community connections.
- Keep accurate attendance records for classes.
- Respond to emergency situations while adhering to YMCA policies.
Qualifications
- Certification in relevant areas of expertise.
- Preferred: One year of experience teaching group wellness classes.
- Knowledge of best practices for special needs individuals.
Physical Demands
- Ability to conduct classes and activities effectively.
- Capable of performing all physical aspects of the position, including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Training Requirements
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- National certification in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
- New Employee Orientation required within the first week of hire.
