Overview
Our company is seeking someone who has experience in leading an accounting team. This position will require someone who thrives on a fast-paced, multi-unit restaurant company that has other investments in real estate, billboards and a campground. The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, support operational decision-making, and help drive profitability across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial policies, internal controls, and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with the CFO to provide financial insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations.
Reporting & Analysis
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist the CFO in analyzing financial performance, identifying trends, and recommending actions to improve profitability.
- Assist the CFO in budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating closely with restaurant operation leadership.
Operational Support
- Work with restaurant managers to interpret financial results and optimize cost controls.
- Monitor food, beverage, and labor cost metrics; support initiatives to improve margins.
- Ensure proper inventory accounting and periodic audits.
Compliance & Audit
- Manage tax filings, regulatory reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Assist the CFO in coordinating annual audits external auditors and tax preparers.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and industry best practices.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Oversee accounting systems and technology platforms; identify opportunities to streamline processes. Gain and maintain proficiency with Sage Intacct Accounting software.
- Assist CFO in the development and maintenance of workflows and various reporting.
- Support integration of new restaurant locations, acquisitions, or system upgrades.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience managing multi-unit operations with multiple legal entities.
- Highly proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- Passed CPA Exam
- Proficiency with Power BI would be a plus.
- Experience with inventory management, cost accounting, and labor analysis.
- Experience as an Accounting Supervisor or Manager
