Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Accountant to support our finance and accounting operations. This role is responsible for processing payroll, prepapering journal entries and financial reports, and supporting the period-end close process. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage weekly payroll accurately and in compliance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Manage employee deductions and garnishments
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries
  • Prepare account reconciliations, schedules, and reports
  • Assist with and support the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure proper documentation
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company controls
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather and verify financial information



Qualifications:


Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (4-year degree required)
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and/or accounting (multi-location experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage laws, and compliance requirements
  • Experience auditing timesheets, PTO balances, and payroll reports for accuracy
  • Experience working with payroll systems (Toast Payroll preferred)
  • Experience supporting multi-unit operations (restaurants or hospitality preferred)
  • Comfortable enforcing payroll controls and following up on missing or incorrect data
  • Ability to manage sensitive/confidential information with discretion
  • Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Intacct is a plus) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities

Position will be on-site in Sevierville TN
