Construction Project Manager

Position Description

The Construction Project Manager oversees every phase of a construction project, from the initial planning to its completion. They monitor and inspect tasks required on commercial and residential construction restoration including subcontractor selection/management, work schedule preparation, demolition, construction, and preparation of documentation (notes, photos, contract paperwork, and job scoping) according to company and insurance policies procedures, and compliance.  The project manager interfaces with customers to explain the processes used to complete active jobs. 


Project Managers define the project scope and assist the Estimator in the creation of project estimates in Xactimate utilizing the program guidelines. The project manager has a basic understanding of the construction process and building materials affected by wind, water, fire, smoke, and other property damage causes. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creation of scope needed to generate estimates in applicable software
  • Responsible for getting an agreed scope of work, pricing, and executing all change orders with the customer including contract signatures
  • Interfaces with adjusters and customers to resolve issues and answer questions about the restoration
  • Create and maintain project schedule and milestones.  Including identification of material lead times.
  • Supervise and monitor the work of subcontractors to ensure accuracy and completion of work
  • Monitor, control and track costs and subcontractor invoices to budget.
  • Resolve customer service issues and construction problems during the project to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Inspect projects daily to ensure quality control and to monitor progress to keep each job on schedule including documentation creation and accuracy.
  • Performs quality assurance inspections after project completion and obtain customer signatures for approval and payments
  • Act as liaison with the customer.
  • Responsible for on-site safety procedures and PPE usage

Skill Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred in construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance restoration working with insurance companies and adjusters.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry
  • Established track record in subcontractor management
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • Able to work independently or work with/lead a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Must be able to prioritize activities and meet deadlines 
  • Work to a schedule
  • Must have basic construction background which includes basic understanding of building materials, flooring, and other materials affected by wind, water, fire, smoke, and other property damage causes.

Incumbent must be prepared to:

  • Move up to 60 pounds often, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods. Lifting, squatting, crawling, and crouching are required.   
  • For safety reasons, use of appropriate PPE to avoid situational hazards must be used for example respirators, gloves, etc.
