Hourly Manager – Job Description
Schedule: Full-time, flexible retail schedule including
evenings and weekends. Must be available to cover opening and closing MOD shifts as needed.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Hourly Manager owns individually assigned departments and ensures compliance, operational execution, cash management, and shift leadership. Acting as a Manager on Duty (MOD) during scheduled shifts, the Hourly Manager is responsible for linking floor execution with leadership expectations, supporting the Store and Assistant Store Managers in delivering a safe, customer-focused, and compliant retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Oversight
• Maintain ownership of assigned departments, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards.
• Execute weekly price changes, Mango counts, shooting of the outs, bin tag maintenance, SKU location verification, and updated POP/marketing.
• Ensure discovery compliance in assigned departments.
• Work scheduled shifts and fill gaps as acting MOD throughout the week.
• Cross-train and badge in all eight departments and Helpful Hub services.
Cash Management
• Verify daily safe and till counts; assign drawers to associates.
• Reconcile variances, validate deposits, and escalate discrepancies promptly.
Customer Service & Leadership
• Lead by example to create a positive, customer-focused environment.
• Resolve customer issues professionally and promptly.
• Supervise and coach Team Leads and Associates during MOD shifts.
Inventory & Merchandising
• Validate weekly NOH reports, LOC accuracy, and PCM process completion for assigned departments.
• Process defective credits weekly and maintain accurate stock and backroom organization.
• Support shrink management and cycle count compliance.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce OSHA standards, including propane handling and forklift compliance.
• Conduct and support regular safety audits.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, loss prevention practices, and operational procedures.
E-Commerce & ACE Systems
• Execute and verify ACE.com orders.
• Ensure NOH, LOC, and PCM processes are completed in assigned departments.
Qualifications
• Minimum age 21 (required to comply with OSHA propane and forklift safety standards).
• Prior supervisory or shift lead experience preferred.
• Cash handling and compliance knowledge required.
• Ability to lead small teams and enforce operational standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 60 lbs. with assistance.
• Regular bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.

Performance Benchmarks
• Maintain ≥95% compliance in assigned departments for 3–6 months.
• Lead at least one monthly safety audit with zero violations.
• Achieve ≥5% sales growth year-over-year in assigned departments for two consecutive quarters.
• Develop at least one Team Lead into promotion readiness within 12 months.
